Going Nowhere Fast on Tao

道德經

I got a ticket to to nowhere
I got no respect for the law
I got no use 'cause it's all abuse
It's the cutting edge of the saw

In ancient China, the keeper of the Imperial Library, Lao Tzu, was famous for his wisdom. Perceiving the growing corruption of the government, he left for the countryside. On his way, the guard at the city gates asked Lao Tzu to write out the essence of his understanding to benefit future generations. Lao Tzu wrote the Tao Te Ching, left, and was never heard of again.

Ain't got no time for the future
Ain't got no time for the past
I'm running up a down escalator
I'm going nowhere fast

The natural flow of the universe--
The Tao, which literally means the Way,
Is the way of nature and universe.
