Artist's Comments

According to the Greek legend, red roses arised from blood of Adonis who was killed by a wild boar on a hunt. In Greek mythology red rose was a symbol for the cycle of growth and decay, but also for love and affinity. Red rose is dedicated to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and daughter of Zeus.

...I found this bloom by the sea last evening, hunting for sunsets. It was quite touching to see its strong colors even after death.What’s funny is that when I went home and I blew up the frame on my monitor, I clearly distinguished the textile texture in the petals, revealing it’s artificial origin...

Now that is incredible--maybe you were out for sunsets, but you can't get better light than that. And if I had to pick an illustration for Venus and Adonis, that would be it. :star:
